Current research is focusing on improving lead acid battery technology by use of lightweight aluminium coated with lead to replace bulk lead alloys in grids. The project focuses on the production of a grid suitable for use in stationary and mobile lead acid batteries with a low cost process suitable for easy industrial application.
In parallel a complementary project aims to improve the performances of the active material by use of nanostructured lead oxide powders obtained from a low temperature/cost recycling process.
