Dr Wei (Alex) Wang, a joint PhD student at MCG during 2015-2016, is now a professor at the School of Space and Environment, Beihang University (BUAA). He received a PhD from University of Science and Technology Beijing’s State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy in 2016. Subsequently followed by a Boya Postdoctoral position at Peking University (2016-2018) and another postdoctoral position at Harvard University (2018-2019), he was recently appointed as a professor at Beihang University in 2020.

Alex has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, with multiple highly-cited key publications, and more than 5,000 citations (Google Scholar). His has more than 60 first authorship/corresponding authorship publications, including Advanced Materials, Science Bulletin, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Science, Energy Environmental Science, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, Energy Storage Materials. More than 10 patents originated from his work have been issued.

Alex’s research interest expands from Li/Na/K/Al-ion batteries, advanced energy materials and devices, capacitive deionization for desalination, multi-functional nanomaterials to microbial fuel cells. Alex also actively engages with academic service. He serves as a journal reviewer for Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, Energy Storage Materials, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Nano-Micro Letters, Applied Energy, Nanoscale, etc.

Alex remains close contact with Prof Vasant Kumar and the MCG group. Vasant offers his congratulations to Alex for the fabulous start of his academic career, and hope to even deepen our collaboration in the future.
