Materials Chemistry Group

Our fellow lab mate Paul recently finished his project after eight years at MCG. Paul is an experienced researcher with a world-class record across materials, metallurgy and sustainable energy. As one of the UK's leading scientists in the field, he has steered and managed the development of major projects in solar energy, batteries and powder metals within one of Cambridge University's largest materials chemistry laboratories, taking ideas from proof of concept to commercial scale-up; successful at winning major financial bids involving senior international stakeholders and government policy makers.

I trust it is also worth mentioning Paul’s dedication to public communication and media coverage. He is a keen science communicator always eager to engage the public in the wonders of materials science. He occasionally appears on radio and TV, and regularly contributes to popular science magazines and blogs on renewable energy, solar photovoltaics, energy materials and storage. You probably want to check his points and interview on BBC, mega, and The Naked Scientists.

“I'll miss you all very much and have made some great friends and collaborations here along the way.” Paul reflected his 8 years here with wonderful memories. The group will also miss Paul greatly, and will always open the door as a place for friendship, ideas and cakes.
