In honor of the lifetime achievements of Prof. Vasant Kumar, Kumar International Symposium on Sustainable Secondary Battery Manufacturing & Recycling (8th Intl. Symp.)  is established to celebrate this great moment. Prof. Katerina Aifantis (U. of Florida, USA), Dr. Claudio Capiglia (Reliance Industries Limited, India), Dr. Athan Fox (Ever Resource Ltd, UK) and Prof. Rachid Yazami (KVI PTE LTD, Singapore) will be co-chairs of the Kumar International Symposium. 

Professor Kumar is a distinguished figure in the field of secondary batteries such as Li-S, Li-ion, Na-ion, K-ion, Lead Acid, High temperature batteries – synthesis of advanced materials, fabrication of components and devices, characterization methods. Environmental: Circular Economy, Recovery, Upgrading, Recycling, carbon capture. Fuel Cells: Solid Oxide Fuel cells, Photocatalytic reactions. Sensors: Electrochemical, Optical, Semiconducting CMOS-MEMS, Thermal. Metallurgy: Iron & Steel, Base Metals, Molten Salt processes, Electrochemical. These and many others are among the topics of the symposium.

This symposium will be held as part of SIPS 2023, an annual multidisciplinary summit, organized by the not-for-profit corporation FLOGEN Stars Outreach (www.flogen.org), which is dedicated to achieving sustainability through science and technology applied in various fields. It incorporates summit plenary lectures from well-known speakers that address the link between various domains in the pursuit of sustainable development, as well as specific scientific symposia featuring specialized presentations in a specific domain, with the same goals in mind. The symposium and overall summit will held in Panama from November 27th – December 1st 2023 in Hyatt’s Dreams Playa Bonita.
