This project is attempting to reduce the working temperature of the intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell from 650oC to 500oC. This will allow us to use cheap stainless steal interconnectors rather than ceramic interconnectors. However, reducing temperature is always accompanied by dramatic polarization losses. To overcome this problem, two approaches have been used. One is to modify the microstructure of the electrode to enlarge the triple phase boundary for reaction (Nano-fiber cathode was made by electrospinning). Another way is to modify the cathode materials to enhance the catalytic property (inject printing technique and infiltration technique was used)
